Why is it that people generally think that you don't want anything to do with them anymore, they're completely wrong, yet when you want to get rid of someone, they refuse to leave?

Also, when will video games be taken seriously? Will they ever? I feel like whenever I want to discuss them, the reaction I get (unless I'm with a select few people) is a reaction as though they're thinking "Video games? Those are for children, what's the point in discussing those?"
Video games are not a goddamned sin, they are not simply child's play...
In conversation today, Amanda mentioned that I talk about video games a lot, and mentioned it in a very negative way. I attempt to discuss them seriously, as one would discuss a film, but I'm often laughed at for attempting to do so.
If someone casually plays World of Warcraft, is that any worse than sitting down and watching TV an hour or two per day? At least WoW is engaging the person. I don't give a flying fuck if it has negative connotations, or if it's a "nerdy" thing to do, it's more engaging than watching television alone. And this is coming from someone who has never been "into" MMOs.

Other than that, the semester has started and I'm already bored to tears. I can't find a job, I sit on my ass all day and feel pretty lazy and/or wasteful on a day-to-day basis.
IT, here I come!
(I kid.)

...Maybe I'll go run tomorrow morning. Before class.
That'd be productive, I think. I need headphones, though. Maybe I'll buy some cheap ones if I can't find mine.
Alarm clock uses "Annoy the shit out of you 'til you wake up!"
It's super effective!

So, does anyone have any tips for actually going out and getting themselves motivated to do... *anything*?

What about things to do here specifically in Mount Pleasant? Anyone?

Amanda's "reboot" on her novel and seeing Wall-E again made me start thinking about various related things.

Here's what my thoughts boil down to:
- Wall-E is the best film I have seen this year.
- Why do people automatically assume animated movies are for children?
- Pixar puts more care into filming and cinematography than I see in most other films.
- Why can't more people actually work a compelling story into video games, another "animated" medium?

And nobody takes video games seriously. Why not.

I had more written about Wall-E, but I'm going to revise it some more before I actually post it here.

Apologies for not updating this more frequently. I fell off the wagon.

I've been rather... Not busy, really. Just... Lazy.

I feel like I need to do more with my life.
Start organizations. Help others. Change my eating habits. Improve my health.

Today is a great day to start.

The written language is lost on so many people in my age range today.
Does it say more about the culture we live in or our educational system? How can so many teenagers and college students lack a basic grasp of how the English language works? Do Italian teenagers have such a problem with spelling? The written language is treated with the same general disregard as the spoken language.
It just bothers me how many people disregard the English language. I'm not perfect in any way in my use of the English language in speech or writing, but I at least have a grasp of it.
Someone today was trying to argue that there's no longer a difference between "its" and "it's", as well as "I could care less" and "I couldn't care less" simply because most people don't know that they're screwing it up and it has now become commonplace...
Seriously? I know people can understand what someone else means when they screw either up, but it doesn't make it correct!
Although, at the same time, language does change. To what extent, though? I can think of a handful of examples of what
I feel like people view me as that asshole who refuses to accept that language changes. What do you think? Am I crazy for being bothered by these things?
